This was a monthly free night of rock (or suitably loud) bands at a pleasantly grungy pub, The Macbeth, in Hoxton. Previously all the ciders here were bottled, so i was surprised that a cider has appeared on draught.
Symonds cider is a 5.5% Hereford cider. Although it’s more of a mainstream than a ‘proper’ cider, it’s a slight, scrumpy peg above other stalwart ciders such as Strongbow, a little bit more apple-tangy and a bit more of the ‘mental-juice’ effect of a proper scrumpy, but perfect for rocking out at a night of guitar bands trashing the joint.
The staff seemed to go off duty midway through the night, but since the new budget has been announced, I am looking forward to the bargain of a £4.06 pint, instead of £4.10, on my next visit!
